Like winter, in summer

Decided to take a week off and by some miracle it lined up with a good run of summer surf. Friday evening excellent fast clean small waves on a nice bank I had to myself.

Monday, crossed the dunes to surf a new spot and was rewarded with a solid little ground swell and one of the best surfs of the year, definitely the best backhand surf I have had for ages. Flogged my arms to death getting wave after wave after wave, finally caught a last one all the way to the sand. Ate lunch on the top of the dunes enjoying watching the sets roll in and the seal who had been swimming with me working his way up the beach fishing.

Wed, up for dawnie in a chunky slightly messy swell but not much wind and a whole load of fun rolling into the set waves on the log - one blinding left hander which ranked up there with Mondays waves for speed and shape - just set a line and went. Got out and met Kirsty and took a walk up North Berwick law, then down to the way to cool for me Steam Punk coffee shop for a coffee and a brownie.

Thursday and another day at the beach, this time on a north facing beach out of the wind. Bit of a straight hand wave but I found a little bank and got 3-4 hours of bad noseriding and good longboard cruising in. Not the best session but for the third time in a week I was surfing in the sun on my own.

Maybe some more before weeks end.
