Jim's Clock and Kev's Plaque

Thought I would take a drive out to see Jim Clark's memorial clock in Chirnside which has recently been refurbed courtesy of Seloc. Part of the job included adding a Plaque for Kevin Harvey, a club member who I only knew as the guy (on the other end of the phone) who went out of his way to help me last year when I got a puncture doing a track day on Teeside. He was a good friend of many of my friends though so it was nice to go out for a look.

Firstly a drive down the excellent B6355 from Gifford down to Chirnside, it seems fitting that Kevin has this plaque at the end of such an excellent stretch of road, as he was clearly a driver rather than a polisher. Indeed it seemd right to get all four wheels off the ground on one section and make sure I was sideways wherever possible.

I stopped here to enjoy the view

Clearly it was going to be one of those days as I was treated to my own personal fly past.

Rolled into chirnside and there it was.

And on the back, Kevin's plaque

As soon as I parked up some old guy came out and admired the car, we had a long chat, he had known Jimmy and had even been at his funeral. Part of our chat went
"why do you have your hazards on?"
"Cos I am parked in a bus stop" was my reply
"you wont get done in Chirnside driving a Lotus laddie"

I finally made my excuses and headed for home, enjoying the fast and sweeping run out to the A1 then the excellent route from Dunbar over to North Berwick along the cliffs.

Ride out to N Berwick

First proper ride on my new bike out to North Berwick for a coffee.

Neil comtemplating how slowly he had to go to let me keep up.

The beast looking over N Berwick

Followed up with a round of golf the following morning.
